Methods You Can Apply in Improving Your Pronunciation

Updated: Aug 25, 2020

People will mostly base the fluency of a person in the English language on how they speak. As the saying goes - you are more convincing when you sound better. This principle has taken the confidence away of a learner and hinders them from speaking. . But the reality is - there is no improvement if there is no practice. If you are a learner, we must measure the improvement that we have when it comes to our pronunciation and overcome the intimidation and fear that was built within us. We need to be able to value every form of improvement no matter how small it is. At Home for English Learners we just don't teach them English, we also train them how to be confident in the language until they reach the road of fluency and independency.

Here are some methods you can apply to improve your pronunciation.

  • Reading out loud

This practice is essential to help you bring clarity to every word you speak. This will make you enhance and modify the sound you produce to be able to pronounce the words properly. Reading out loud makes your lips, tongue and jaw be more flexible in pronouncing new words.

  • Record your voice

This method will bring awareness of the sounds you need to improve each time you will listen to your own recorded voice. You can read a passage from a book and try to record your voice to your phone. Aside from the fact that you get to see your room for improvement, this practice also helps you improve your intonation.

  • Through Listening

There are so many ways for you to listen to an English phrase or conversations you can use platform such as YouTube, podcasts and more but for English learners, watching movies or short video clips will help them be familiar with the different sounds and tones of the words and they get to see the formation of the lips on every word that was spoken.

Applying these methods on a daily basis will bring promising results to the English learners. You can do it!
